Sustainable living on steroids

I just came across this hugely comprehensive website called Low Impact

I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface yet, but have (not unnaturally 🙂 ) started off with the ‘food’ section.

This is going to keep me going for weeks!

Have a look!

What’s the name of that shrub I liked at your place that was covered with bees? I’ve just joined Diggers and I’ll see if they have any.

It used to called Eriostemon myoporoides, but the botanists in their wisdom decided that all but two of the former Eriostemon genus should now belong in the genus Philotheca. In short, look for Eriostemon myoporoides (old name), or Philotheca myoporoides (new name). But also, many of the plants now have ‘fancy’ names which people find easier to remember. The plant you saw at my place is a form of P. myoporoides called ‘Flower Girl’. If you can get it, it is by far the most spectacular form of the species. You might find them at Bunnings also, particularly as they’re flower now and would be good sellers. Oh, and unlike last year, I have lots of bees on my plant this year.

Thanks so much. I’ll give it a try. I’ve found out my place isn’t suitable for getting a beehive, so I want to encourage them to fly over the fence and pollinate to their hearts’ content.
