A video to watch

I’m not up to speed with adding videos to this blog yet (and may never be), so here’s a link to the Damn the Matrix blog where you can watch a video of David Suzuki talking about exponential growth.

He does it so well—it’s the classic scenario of the bacteria in the bottle, which comes originally, I think, from the late lamented Dr. Albert Bartlett of Boulder Univerity, Colorado, whose quote, “the greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function”, is well known to Bartlett afficionados.

Have a look—and if you really DON”T understand the exponential function then you may find yourself to be well and truly shocked and you will understand why any politician who continues to talk about continued growth is blatantly insane.

And while you’re at it, have a really Happy Christmas!

You can’t actually embed videos in your blog unless you sign up for a youtube account and make your own. We learned that the hard way through our course this year. Cheers for the share. Madness prevails exponentially and politicians are the biggest and most insane bacteria that rise to the top of the bottle so are NEVER to be believed! Have a great Christmas Bev and hope your garden is going great guns. Have you ever experimented with peanuts? I am going to give it a go 🙂

Well, other people seem to do it OK. I must investigate. You and Steve have a great Christmas too (it will be a long day if you were really up at 3 am sending emails!!), and I have thought about peanuts and will investigate those too.

I was up at 3am Bev, I get up every day then so that I get lots of time to research, read my RSS Feed Reader blogs and get “me” time :). Most other people who embed videos have their own blogs that they create (or pay someone else to create for them) and you can embed whatever you like on your own blog. The free Blogger and WordPress blogs don’t allow you the option to embed videos worse luck but you can get around that by signing up for Youtube and posting your video to Youtube and then putting the link in your post. About the best we can do (we learned that in our course 🙂 )

Hi……. embedding youtube videos is easy….

When you write a new post, type:

    Thanks for the link…..

    • foodnstuff Says:

      Er….type what, Mike?

      • mikestasse Says:

exactly as I typed, except where the __________ are, you insert the URL of the video clip you want embedded in your blog post…… it’s called html code, and it’s how ALL websites are written in the background.

So for instance, when I embedded the pale blue dot video, I typed:

And if you go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpZHUjKnDpE

it will take you to the youtube copy of the pale blue dot….. except it will be on youtube instead of on your blog.

I’m no html expert, but as I delve deeper and deeper into writing pieces for my blog, I discover that (and struggle with) sometimes knowing a little bit of html code comes in handy!

Holy shit! I knew the world was critical and I know we MUST make the changes but that sums it up perfectly, and surely ANYBODY could understand it. Maybe they would choose not to listen or choose not to believe but they would understand at least.
    Thanks for the share.
